Tracy Cortez is only 23-years-old and is already a damaging striker. She brings with her a great standup game with great takedown defense. It’s hard to get this young star on the ground. For being so young, she has a high fight IQ, and is a fighter to keep an eye on.
Fight History and Background
Born in and fighting out of Phoenix, Arizona, Tracy began her career as an amateur in 2013. She enjoyed a stellar 6-0 record and earned the move into the professional ranks of MMA.
Her first professional fight came at Invicta FC 25 against Cheri Muraski. This was a great back and forth battle, each fighter came out hard and had several trades in the cage. Tracy did a lot of damage with her hands and followed up with brilliant leg kicks. She showed her power in this fight which was underestimated even though she had three KO/TKO victories as an amateur.
It wasn’t until round two was coming to an end that Cheri executed an excellent choke forcing Tracy to tap out. They clinched and scrapped several times, Tracy usually had the advantage with her knees and other tight strikes in close quarters that would force Cheri to break away and the two would continue banging again. It was a great fight, Cheri is a great fighter and she executed a beautiful choke. Tracy didn’t give up, and came back firing.
On 4 November 2017 Tracy scored her first professional victory against Roxanne Ceasear by unanimous decision after three hard-fought rounds. Tracy executed a flawless gameplan, excellent striking, keeping distance, forcing her opponent to miss while she would come in and land strikes and score points.
